NIC Teaming

NIC Teaming.

Switch Dependent Mode.

Steps to configure NIC teaming in dependent mode.

> Loging to the Windows 2012 server with Administrator user.
In Desktop click on Server Manager ikon.


> In Server Manager window click on Local Server option.


> Click on Disabled option in NIC Teaming option.


> In NIC Teaming window click on TASKS and select New Team option.


> Give the name to new team, Select Ethernet adapters for team.
Click on Additional properties and select the following settings from drop down menu.

Teaming mode:                Static Teaming
Load balancing mode:    Address Hash

Click OK to continue.


> Once the Dependent NIC Teaming is configured following screen will display.


> Once NIC Teaming is configured the ikon of NIC Teaming will display in Network Connection window.


> If any network card goes down, You will get Warning from NIC Team and faulty cared goes to Disabled mode. Check the following screen for more reference.


> NIC Teaming status shows Enabled once we enable this feature on local server.



Switch Independent Mode.

Prerequsites:

> Minimum 2 Switches are required
> Network card connected to different switches in same network.

Steps to configure NIC teaming in independent mode.

> Loging to the Windows 2012 server with Administrator user.
In Desktop click on Server Manager ikon.



In Server Manager window click on Local Server option.


> Click on Disabled option in NIC Teaming option.


> In NIC Teaming window click on TASKS and select New Team option.


> Give the name to new team, Select Ethernet adapters for team.
Click on Additional properties and select the following settings from drop down menu.

Teaming mode:                Switch Independent
Load balancing mode:    Address Hash
Standby adapter:             None (all adapters Active)

Click OK to continue.

> Once the Dependent NIC Teaming is configured following screen will display.


> NIC Teaming status shows Enabled once we enable this feature on local server.
